| Military: | On 4 July 1915 Roland was attested into the military at Croydon, aged 19y 6m, initially
assigned to the Royal Field Artillery (Gunner) but later transferred to the Surrey Regiment. On 20 December 1917 he was on the War Office Weekly Casualty List No. 5447 Part 4, Ser. No. 23337, East Sussey Regiment, home place Lopham. He was on the 1918 Absent Voters List for South Lopham at Lang Fen Farm - similarly listed in 1919, so presumable still in the military at that time. |

BRESSINGHAM.
WEDDING. - A very pretty wedding took place at the Parish Church on Saturday last, the contracting parties being Mr Roland Sparrow, only son of the late Mr W. Sparrow, and Mrs A. Garland. Langfen Farm, South Lopham, and Miss L. Fellingham, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs NV. Fellingham, of the same parish. The bride who was given away by her father was charmlingly attired in pale mauve crepe-de-chine with silver trimmings, and veil to match, silver shoes. and carried a magnificent bouquet of chrysanthemums, lilies, roses, and white heather. She wore a string of pearls lent by a verv old friend. The bride was attended by foui bridesmaids, Miss G. Garland, sister of the bridegroom, Miss M. Fellingham, and the Misses Iris Noble and Barbara Baker, nieces of the bride. The two former were attired in dresses of old gold and pale green respectively, and wore veils and shoes to match, and carried bouquets of chrysanthemums, lilies and white heather, the gift of the bridegroom. The two younger wore dresses of flame silk lousine, with veils and shoes to match, and carried baskets of bronze chrysanthemums. The wedding marches were played as the bride entered and left the church, and the hymn, “O love divine, all love excelling,” was sung, Miss L. Howard being at the organ. Mr J. Lond acted as best man. A merry peal was afterwards rung on the bells. A reception was held at Langfen Farm. The cars were supplied by Mr V. Orves, of Redgrave. |
